You are revising for your final exams at school, from your own notes and old exams. Or you are a first-year student with a folder of lecture slides, and your January exams are close. Studyflash and Turbo AI, the AI note taker at turbo.ai, both turn a lecture recorded in class or a PDF into study material. This page looks at whether Turbo AI is free and good enough for that exam.
The short answer: Studyflash is the better choice for turning your own notes, lecture slides and old exams into exam preparation. Turbo AI, which we tested in September 2026, builds no mock exam from your old exams. Studyflash does, timed and graded, whenever you like, as often as you like. Turbo AI has a free plan that caps chat each day, and its paid plans cost €17.99 to €22.99 a month.

Studyflash builds a mock exam on your old exams, Turbo AI does not
Upload an old exam and Studyflash copies its structure and question style into a mock exam, so you rehearse the exam you will actually sit. Turbo AI quizzes you on the notes it writes instead.
A Studyflash mock exam draws on every deck and source in your course, and example questions work as its template too.
It mixes eight question types, including essay and calculation questions. It is timed and graded on your country's scale. Without an old exam, you choose the number of questions, the time limit and the question types.
Studyflash flashcards come in the detail and card types you choose
Studyflash gives you a deck drawn from your whole course, in the shape you choose. You pick how many flashcards to make from your material, as you do in Turbo AI. On top of that, you set the level of detail to low, medium or high and choose from six card types. One of them is image occlusion, which hides parts of a diagram from your own notes or slides for you to recall. The cards can be in any of 27 languages.
Regenerate the deck with a note to Max, and your own cards stay. Each card follows a spaced-repetition schedule set by how well you remember it. In the mobile app you can study them offline too.
Turbo AI offered the same few card counts whatever we uploaded, and no image occlusion.
A course that keeps growing all term, or one you upload again to change
Your material arrives week by week, and Studyflash holds a whole term of it in one growing course. Its study plan takes each topic to mastery and ends with a mock exam.
In Studyflash, workspaces hold courses, which hold decks and sources. A new PDF, a photo of your notes or a lecture recorded in class joins the same course whenever it comes in. Nothing starts over.
Max has read everything in the course. The study plan follows the goal you set and suggests an order for the topics, but you don't have to follow it.
Turbo AI is an AI note taker built around the notes it writes from your upload. When we used it, changing anything in its guided course (the step-by-step course it also makes from your material) meant uploading everything again.
Which app fits your situation
Turbo AI is the better pick if all you have to learn from is lecture videos online, with no notes or slides of your own.
- Your own notes, slides and old exams: Studyflash turns them into exam preparation, down to a graded mock exam in the format of your real one.
- Flashcards for the whole course: Studyflash lets you decide how detailed the cards are and which kinds you get, image occlusion included.
- A course that grows during term: Studyflash keeps new material in the same course, without uploading anything again.
- Help when you are stuck: Max, Studyflash's AI tutor, has read your material, and chat with him is unlimited on the free plan too.
How we tested
Maximilian S. from the Studyflash team tested both apps in September 2026. He uploaded the same four master's-level lecture presentations to both, unchanged: 130 slides heavy on images and charts, formulas and definitions, and worked examples. On many, a student had typed notes of their own. He looked at how the number of cards is chosen, whether a diagram became cards with parts hidden, whether the guided course can be changed without uploading again, and whether an old exam can be uploaded as the template for a mock exam.
Questions and answers
If you revise from your own lecture slides and old exams, yes: Turbo AI offered no mock exam built on old exams when we tested it in September 2026. Studyflash gives you a timed mock exam in the structure and question style of your exams, graded on your country's scale.
Yes, up to a point: Turbo AI's free version limits how much you can chat each day, and only a paid plan lifts that. Studyflash's free plan is ad-free and gives you flashcards, quizzes, spaced repetition and unlimited chat with Max, Studyflash's AI tutor; Premium adds unlimited generation, podcasts and mock exams.
A monthly plan of Turbo AI costs between €17.99 and €22.99, and its yearly plans cost less per month.
Studyflash has a free plan, and Premium's price shows in the app; the pricing page lists what the plans include.
If you study from notes, slides and old exams of your own, no: Turbo AI does not build a mock exam on those old exams. Unless online lecture videos are all you have, Studyflash serves you better, with a graded mock exam in the shape of your real one.
No. Turbo AI had no setting for the level of detail and no image occlusion in our test. It gave us fixed card counts that did not change with the amount of material. In Studyflash you set the number of cards and the level of detail, then pick from six card types, image occlusion included.
Turbo AI didn't let us change anything in its guided course without uploading everything again. In Studyflash, new PDFs, photos of your notes and recorded lectures join the same course at any time.
