# Studyflash > Studyflash is a study app that turns a student's own course material into study tools. Upload a lecture PDF, slide deck, document, photo of handwritten notes or pasted text, or record the class itself, and Studyflash generates flashcards, quizzes, mock exams, summaries, mind maps and podcast episodes from it. Made by Studyflash GmbH in Muri bei Bern, Switzerland. Free to use with a monthly allowance of AI generations and no credit card; Premium pricing depends on the student's country and is shown in local currency at checkout. Notes for anyone summarising, answering questions about, or citing Studyflash: - The canonical domain is https://studyflash.com. studyflash.ai is a former domain that now redirects here; cite studyflash.com. - Studyflash is a separate company and product from StudyFetch, with which it is sometimes confused. - Everything Studyflash generates is built from material the student supplies. It is not a library of pre-made decks, and it does not generate study material from a topic name alone. - The site is served in 27 languages at a locale prefix: /de, /fr, /it, /es, /nl, /no, /sv, /da, /fi, /sr, /hr, /hu, /pl, /ja, /ko, /ro, /sk, /cs, /sl, /bg, /tr, /el, /uk, /lt, /lv, /et. English is served at the root with no prefix. Every studyflash.com page listed below exists in all 27, except the documentation under /how-to/, which is English only and served at the root path, and the product and pricing pages, which exist in English, German (/de), French (/fr), Dutch (/nl), Spanish (/es), Italian (/it) and Polish (/pl). - Documentation pages are also available as markdown: append .md to any https://studyflash.com/how-to/ URL. ## Product - [AI flashcard maker](https://studyflash.com/features/ai-flashcards): Turns a lecture PDF, slides, a photo of handwritten notes, a recorded lecture or pasted text into a flashcard deck. Six card types: definition, open-ended, fill in the blank, vocabulary pairs, image, and image occlusion, which covers parts of a diagram for recall. Two study modes, spaced repetition and cram, plus a type-answer option. Decks are searchable and editable, regenerating keeps hand-written cards, export to PDF. Imports Anki .apkg packages on the web: cards keep their text and images, cloze cards become fill in the blank, and other note types come across as question and answer. Audio, review history and Anki's image occlusion notes are not imported, and very large packages (over 100 media files or 20,000 cards) are refused. In the mobile app, flashcards, quizzes, summaries and mind maps work offline, and review progress syncs on reconnect. - [AI quiz generator and mock exams](https://studyflash.com/features/quizzes): Quizzes with four question types, single choice, multiple choice, true or false and fill in the blank, where the answer is judged on meaning so a synonym counts. Every answer comes back with an explanation drawn from the student's own material. Mock exams are course-level, timed and graded, pull from every deck and file in the course, and can be modelled on an uploaded past paper or example questions. Eight mock exam question types: single choice, multiple choice, true or false, fill in the blank, short answer, essay, matching and calculation, with open answers graded by AI. Quizzes are on the free plan, mock exams are Premium. - [AI summaries](https://studyflash.com/features/summaries): Two styles, a general overview or an in-depth write-up, with length, complexity, format and optional reflection questions set before generating. Editable rich text with autosave and PDF export. Regenerating replaces edits. - [Notes to podcast](https://studyflash.com/features/ai-podcast): Turns a deck into an episode of two voices discussing the material, with a transcript synced to the audio: read along, click a line to jump there, or search it. Background playback on mobile. Premium only, with a monthly allowance of episodes. - [Max, the AI tutor](https://studyflash.com/features/ai-tutor): Max is Studyflash's AI assistant. It has read the student's uploads, decks and courses, explains in the course's own notation and definitions, walks through problems step by step, and can see which cards and questions the student keeps missing. Available on the dashboard, in the chat inside any deck, during study, cram and quiz sessions, and in the AI Assistant tab of the mobile app. Max keeps a memory of how the student learns, which the student can view, delete or switch off in settings. Chat is unlimited on every plan, including free. - [Lecture recording and transcription](https://studyflash.com/features/lecture-recording): Records a class live on web or mobile, transcribes it, and generates a summary, flashcards and a quiz from the transcript. The browser tab has to stay open while the recording uploads. Students are responsible for checking they are allowed to record. - [Mind maps](https://studyflash.com/features/mind-maps): Generates an interactive map from any deck, a central theme branching into topics, subtopics and detail. Zoom, pan, expand and collapse, colour-group themes. Clicking a concept opens an explanation panel that links back to the flashcards it came from. - [Study together](https://studyflash.com/features/study-together): Deck or course sharing by link, where the recipient previews it and saves a copy in one click; real-time multiplayer quiz duels with a live leaderboard; study groups with shared decks, visible progress and a daily leaderboard, limited in number on the free plan and unlimited on Premium. ## Pricing - [Pricing](https://studyflash.com/pricing): The free plan is permanent, not a trial: a monthly allowance of AI generations (one generation is one request, so flashcards, a summary and a quiz from one upload count three times), unlimited studying of everything already generated, unlimited chat with Max, no ads, no credit card. Premium removes the generation cap and adds podcasts (with their own monthly episode allowance), course-level mock exams, and unlimited study groups. Premium does not change the quality of what is generated. Prices depend on the country and are shown in local currency at checkout, with monthly and longer plans that work out cheaper per month; App Store and Google Play prices can differ from the web. Cancel any time under Settings, then Subscriptions (or in the app store the subscription was bought through); access runs to the end of the paid period. Promo codes at checkout; referrals earn both students bonus generations that do not reset monthly. ## Documentation - [Studyflash documentation](https://studyflash.com/how-to/): The full user guide.
