# How Studyflash is organized

> Understand how workspaces, courses, and decks structure your study material in Studyflash.

Your material in Studyflash lives in three levels: workspaces, courses, and decks.

* **Workspace**: purely organizational. Use it for a semester or a school year.
* **Course**: tied to one exam. It holds all the content relevant to that exam.
* **Deck**: an individual block within a course, such as a lecture or a class.

For example: a workspace "Fall semester" contains the course "Biology 101" (one exam), and that course contains a deck per lecture.

> Keep everything for one exam in the same course. That way features that work across a whole
> course, like mock exams, can draw on all the relevant material.
