# Focus mode

> Block distracting apps on your phone during study sessions with Studyflash's focus mode.

Switching between studying and social media is one of the biggest obstacles to effective learning. Focus mode blocks the apps you choose for the duration of your study session, enforced at the system level so the home screen will not save you:

* **iOS**: works through Apple's **Screen Time**.
* **Android**: uses Android's built-in app usage controls (you grant a couple of permissions once).

> [!NOTE]
>
> On iOS, if Screen Time has a parent or guardian passcode, that passcode is needed to let
> Studyflash manage app blocking.

## Setting it up

**1. Enable it**

Go to **Profile → Focus Mode**, tap **Enable Focus Mode**, and grant the requested permissions.

**2. Pick your blocklist**

Select every app that distracts you: social media, messaging, games.

**3. Start**

Optionally set a timer, then toggle focus mode on. Apps unblock when you toggle it off or the
timer runs out.

Every focus session counts toward your study time stats, so you see how much real, undistracted studying you put in.

> [!TIP]
>
> Start focus mode first, then open your due cards. No interruptions until the session is done.
