# Upload a document

> Upload a PDF, document, or image to Studyflash, or paste text, and get AI-generated study materials automatically.

In your deck, select **Upload** or drag and drop to add a file (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, JPEG, and PNG). Alternatively, you can also record your class or paste/type any text directly into the input field. In the mobile app, you can additionally photograph or scan your handwritten notes with the camera.

## Upload a document

**1. Open the Create dialog**

Click **+ New**. The **Upload** tab is selected by default.

**2. Add your file**

Drag your file into the upload area or click **Upload files**. For PDFs, you can pick a page
range after the upload, useful for large textbooks.

**3. Pick a location and name**

Choose the workspace and course, name your deck (or let Studyflash name it), and click **Create
deck**. Generation starts automatically.

## Paste text

Click **+ New**, switch to the **Paste** tab, paste or type your content, and click **Create deck from text**. Then pick a location and name as usual.
